1st Annual Middletown BBQ Cookoff

Middletown, DE

Recap:

This weekend was the 1st Annual BBQ Cook-Off was held on May 21-22 at the Dutch Country Farmers Market in Middletown, DE. It was organized by Mose Zook and Ben Riehl, proprietors of the Farmers Market. I have to say that they did a great job and it was noticed and appreciated by all in attendance. Their hard work made this a very cook friendly competition and it will no doubt grow by leaps and bounds.

This was our home town competition and the pressure was on for Pigheaded BBQ to have a good showing, since so many friends and family were going to be there. We didn't do too bad and even had a walk and a ribbon for pork.

Thanks to all our friends and family who showed up in force to cheer us on. We had a respectable, if  not great finish. We were 18th overall out of 42 with a 16th place chicken, 28th place ribs, 10th place pork and a sad 30th place brisket finish. A lot better showing than Salsbury, Md,  and hopefully our launch into higher finishes. We can’t wait for next year’s event. Thanks again Mose & Ben and all the volunteers who made this competition come to fruition and made it such a success.

New Jersey State BBQ Championships

Wildwood, NJ

Recap:

Pigheaded BBQ had its best showing to date this season, taking 10th place overall at the New Jersey State BBQ Championships, with a 7th place in Ribs, 10th place in Pork, and 9th place in Brisket.  Great location, good scenery, good friends, and a top 10 finish....things don’t get much better than that.  For a more in-depth recap of the contest, check out the blog post at: http://pigheadedbbq.blogspot.com/2010/07/2010-njbbq-championship-wildwood.html

Victory BrewBQ in the Vineyard

Gap, Pa

Recap:

Did our best to defend last year's Grand Champ at Victory Brewing's Inaugural Brew-B-Q. Came in 2nd by the narrowest of margins (.002). Took 1st in Chicken and 6th in Ribs.  Thanks to all who came out to support us and the friends we competed against!

Diamond State BBQ Championship

Dover, DE

Recap:

We had a good comp at Dover. Two top five finishes, (5th chicken & 5th pork) and a 7th overall out of 52 teams. Hope we can keep it up for New Holland. Great to have the family there and see all our bbq friends.

New Holland SummerFest

Recap:

Pigheaded BBQ had a pretty good competition in New Holland. 4 calls. Chef's Choice (10th), Chili (9th), Chicken (7th) and Ribs (12th). Thanks to all the friends and family who came out to support us.

2nd Annual Southern York County BBQ Cookoff
Shrewsbury, Pa

Recap:

Not too bad. 3 top ten finishes (7th sausage, 2nd chef's choice and 10th pork) 2 ribbons, a trophy and a little money. Bombed with ribs, 18th overall. On the way home got a flat on the trailer. A little nerve wracking, but with my son v2.0's help, the change went smoothly. Done for the ye...ar, got all winter to practice. Salisbury, MD in April next competition.
